DJ, producer, remixer & label chief Darren Giles is one of the most in demand up & coming figures on the house music scene

The Beginning…

Darren’s musical career started way back in the early eighties with his earliest influences being in disco, soul and funk and growing up listening to the likes of Luther Vandross, Shalamar and Funkadelic to name a few which prompted him to put on his own house parties to an older more appreciative group of friends.

He then moved on to promoting his own nights in clubs in his local area for free playing house music but still with a disco feel to it, playing at packed out clubs to intimate little bars giving people something different to all the other musical styles that were going around at the same time.

In the mid nineties Darren moved into radio work after getting a slot on London radio station Shine FM with his show taking on a unique edge as being the only House show on the station playing the freshest beats supplied to him by long time friend Paul Farris and with club work starting to filter through his schedule was filling up rapidly with offers from both the UK and abroad.

In The Groove…

Darren is at his best behind the decks, his passion for the music is unquestionable from playing the classics right through to some of the most upfront tracks of the present day. His love for what he does is at it’s very best when he is at one with the crowd.

His endeavors have seen him travel and play some of the best & most intimate clubs both here in the UK & abroad including Ministry Of Sound, Glasshouse, Mezzo (London), Dusted (Middlesborough), Traffic (Dublin), Ensencja (Poland), D-Club (Switzerland), Metropolitan (Dublin), Casafunk (Coventry), Rude (Oldham), Elemental (Manchester) to name a few/

Label Owner…

Darren co-founded Solid Soul at the end of 2003 alongside partner Pete Doyle to first of all look after there schedules but also as an outlet for the music they were producing, since it’s insertion the Solid Soul brand has had backing from some of house music’s most influential players in the shape of Brian Tappert (Soulfuric), Paul Farris (Four Four Promotions), Grant Nelson (Swing City) and other DJ’s like Copyright, Richard Earnshaw, Lorenzo Al Dino at 7th District (Austria), Full Intention and Simon Dunmore at Defected Records.

The label also looks after the interest of long time friends & DJ’s Jack N Daniels aswell as artist Soulizm & Carousel.

Disco Kid Productions…

Set up by Darren in March 2005 Disco Kid Productions is his very own offshoot to Solid Soul. DKP is primarily another moniker for Darren on the production front with a view to releasing marterial and setting up Disco Kid Recordings in the near future.

The purpose behind DKP is for Darren to be able to fuse his passion for house with his love for the music that surrounded him from childhood to the present day, yep you’ve guessed it….Disco!!.
